I love mid-January around my home in Texas. That’s when our daffodils begin to spring up. They are colorful and refreshing, and after the usual January blast of cold weather, they lift my spirits. The deep green, stems come up weeks before the yellow blooms, and if I’m not looking, I don’t see them. The green is so vibrant against the dormant brown and gray you’d think I would. However, my mind won’t grasp the idea of new life coming up out of that desolate, brown, ground.
Let me tell you, though, when those gorgeous, beaming, yellow, flowers bloom, my eyes finally open wide! I see their sunshine and my heart leaps for joy and my soul is renewed—oh glory hallelujah!
Wow, what great perspective these daffodils bring to our daily lives! We get terribly bogged down with the browns and greys of our day-to-day responsibilities, disappointments and stressors, don’t we? Our heads stay bowed with the busyness and pressures, and we fail to perceive the new blessings springing up around us.
Yet, Beloved One, make no mistake, no matter who you are, or where you are, God is springing up a new blessing around you, and for you, somewhere in your life. Just as the sunshiny daffodils spring up in the desolate, dead of winter, there is new life springing up in the dormant, stressed-out, disappointments of your life.
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.
Isaiah 43:19
Beloved, look for the new thing springing up in your life, perceive it: He is making a way for you in your wilderness. Whatever it is you need, ask him for it. Then watch for it. Look for it. Perceive it. His answer will be there.
Dear Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the new things and ways you make in my life. Please open my eyes to see these new things and help me know you are there, making a way when I need it. Help me have faith strong enough to believe you love me enough to create these new things for me. I love you. Amen.
Is there a new thing you have perceived in your life lately? I'd love to hear about it!
