Wednesday Wonder from my BackYard

Looking out my front window this morning, watching the sweet little deer as they thirstily drink from the water fountain, I think about how some days my soul thirsts for a touch from God.

Do you have those days too - where your heart thirsts for a divine moment or touch from God?

I think God designed us that way - whether in celebration, or walking through a wilderness, God wants us to want him, to seek him, and things of him. He wants to fill us up with himself, so that we don't fill up with things of the world that will lead us down the wrong path.

So, when I find myself longing for something of the world to make me feel better - something that in the long run won't be good for me (yes, I struggle with this more often than I like to admit 😬 ) I will remember to turn to God instead. Please help me do this, Lord!

How to turn to God? Here are a few suggestions of things that work for me:

  • Prayer; I'll talk to God, tell him how I'm feeling, get it off my chest. After all, he's waiting there for me to call. 😄

  • His Word; I will pick up my Bible or get online and search his Word. Think: "What am I feeling?" What is a one or two word phrase describing the emotion I am feeling? Search that word. See what God has to say about that emotion and how to deal with it. Biblegateway is a great place to start!

  • Music; I will saturate my heart with my favorite contemporary christian music playlists. This music always draws me ever so close to my Lord! It also seems to make me feel better - loved, wanted, and ready to pick up life again.

What are some things you can do to draw close to God and drink from him?

Have a wonderful and safe rest of the week as we prepare for the US celebration of our Independence Day.

Dear God,

Thank you for the beauty and wonder of your creations. They fill my heart with joy! Please help me remember to seek you in moments of panic and upset, as well as times of celebration. And please help me feel loved and wanted and excited for life. Thank you for being there, and for hearing and answering my prayers. I love you,

Amen.

Love and blessings,

Mindy 💗
